Full course description

In this 2 CEU dairy nutrition course, our world-renowned instructors will guide you through the intricacies of formulating diets for dairy cattle. At the end of the course, you will be able to formulate a diet and have it reviewed and discussed by the instructors and classmates. Software with full capability for diet formulation will be available for you to use at no extra cost. Every week, you will be learning a different aspect of the software. Instructors will host weekly “live” classes over Zoom to interact with students and highlight the most important details and “hot topics” in dairy nutrition. You will have the chance to chat with them virtually. This course runs from March 20, 2024 - May 1, 2024.

The essential fundamentals of dairy cattle nutrition are reviewed, including the basic to advanced principles for all levels of learners. Energy, carbohydrates, lipids, protein, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, additives, forages, young stock, and transition cow feeding are covered in detail. The material covering the basic and advanced concepts of dairy nutrition will be available online to learn at your own pace. Dr. Cardoso, Dr. Drackley, and Dr. Loor, along with other nutritionists, will present and critically evaluate nutritional concepts and their application in the field. Instructors will pass the hands-on experience in formulating diets and building a set of constraints and suggestions.

Weekly, the instructors will discuss a deeper understanding of the nutritional impacts on reproduction, health, production, physiology, and the immune system, making this a holistic approach to formulating dairy cattle diets. Dive deep into the newest research insights, on-farm applications, and evolving trends. You will be able to ask your most difficult questions and present your most challenging situations in a collaborative atmosphere. This course runs from March 20, 2024 - May 1, 2024. Lectures will be recorded, and no textbooks are required.
