Full course description

Transitioning to adulthood is a critical turning point for any young adult, yet navigating the shift between school and adult services providers presents an additional challenge for individuals with disabilities and their families. While interagency collaboration is required by law, we know that partnerships face unique structural and interpersonal challenges from staff shortages to communication gaps.

In this course we will examine data on the linkages and relationships among Illinois providers to establish the current state of collaboration. We will draw upon collaboration research to help you identify the dimensions of collaboration and diagnose potential threats to functional teams. The ultimate goal of applying this research is to improve the systems that support people with disabilities and their post-secondary outcomes, including competitive employment.
