Full course description

This training provides an overview of authentic assessment in early intervention including what it is and why it is important. Individuals who complete this module will have an understanding who participates in authentic assessment, where it may happen, when it can be done, and within what early intervention processes it can occur. The module includes numerous opportunities for reflection as well as tools to support both the online learner and the administrators/supervisors who support and prepare early intervention practitioners/service coordinators.

This module is an installment of the Universal Online Part C EI Curriculum.

Course Instructions:

This online course is self-paced. However, you will need to complete the course sections in the following order:

  1. Terms of Agreement
  2. Learner's Guide (PDF or editable Word doc)
  3. Introduction (run time 6 min. 26 sec.)
  4. Lessons (in this order): Each Lesson includes viewing the lesson, completing activities in learner guide, and completing a check for understanding with a passing grade.

(1) Lesson 1: What is Authentic Assessment? (run time 9 min. 46 sec.)

(2) Lesson 2:  Understanding Why (run time 13 min. 7 sec.)

(3) Lesson 3: Who, Where, When & Within (run time 15 min. 18 sec.)

(4) Lesson 4: Putting it All Together (run time 5 min. 43 sec.)

  1. Reflection Activity:  Complete 1 reflection activity
  2. Case Study: Complete 1 case study
  3. Required Training Evaluation with Optional Workgroup Feedback Survey
  4. Certificate of Completion
