Summary

Supporting Lead Exposed Children and Their Families provides essential information about the devastating medical and developmental impacts of lead, discussed strategies to support lead-exposed children, particularly those not yet showing delays, as well as strategies to prevent future exposure. Practical tools, strategies, and resources to help early interventionists support lead-exposed children and their families are provided.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Understand eligibility considerations related to lead exposure.
  • Describe risk factors related to lead exposure and early intervention.
  • Recall the effects of lead exposure and access to public health services available to children who have been exposed to lead.

Credit Hours

This event is approved for Early Intervention Contact Hours and State Licensure hours for Dietitian/Nutritionist (D/N), Counselor (LCPC), Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Social Work (SW), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).
