Summary
Online Systems Overview is an introductory overview of the Illinois Early Intervention System organized into 6 modules. A sample of topics presented include:
- The Illinois EI System at a glance, including principles, mission, vision, and values; Federal & State law and policy, key stakeholders, and a strong emphasis on coaching families as a critical component of service delivery
- Lead agency, System Supports, EI Network, and other groups responsible for the governance or facilitation of Illinois Part-C early intervention
- Professional responsibilities encompassing credentialling and enrollment, billing insurance, overall systems of payment, as well as requirements related to monitoring and documentation
- Roles of professionals within the Child and Family Connections (CFC) offices including how they support families and collaborate with service providers
- Eligibility/Evaluation/Assessment, Developmental Domains, IFSP development and outcomes, Transitioning, the Natural Environment, and Child & Family Outcomes
Learners can expect to take 3-4 hours to complete all training modules and complete the training evaluation at the end of the course in order to access a Certificate of Completion.
With the exception of Child and Family Connections' Service Coordinators and bilingual interpreters and translators, who are required to take separate trainings, this online training is required for all providers seeking a credential in Illinois Early Intervention.

Objectives
Upon completion of this training, learners will be able to:
- Understand Federal & State law and policy, Key Stakeholders, and Service Delivery in the Illinois Early Intervention System
- Recognize the groups comprising governance and system support of the Illinois EI system.
- Understand professional responsibilities related to credentialling, enrollment, billing and insurance, and systems of payment.
- Articulate the role and function of the CFC offices and those who work within them.
- Understand the common factors surrounding eligibility determination, IFSP development and outcomes, and transitioning out of the EI system.
- Recognize the role that Developmental Domains and the Natural environment play in eligibility, evaluation, assessment, and the provision of ongoing services.
Credit Hours
This event is Part 1 of a two-part training. No additional early intervention credit is awarded.
Part 2: Systems Overview Follow Up
The "Online System Overview Follow-Up Session" (SOFU) is a one-day, live training requiring separate registration. As its name implies, it is a Follow-Up to the information presented in Part 1 and includes interactive group discussion and activities. The SOFU is offered several times over the course of a year and at least once each month. CLICK HERE for our current SOFU opportunities.
SOFU must be completed within 12 months of completing the Online Training Modules and are valid for 3 years prior to submitting your Illinois Early Intervention credential application.
