Full course description

Overview

This workshop is designed for any CQI/PQI professional who wants to better understand AI basics and responsibly use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in nonprofit human-service settings. There will be an overview of how AI has evolved, with a focus on building comfort with key terms and concepts so that interested quality leaders and agency “AI Champions” can engage in conversations about AI and become the change agent (if desired) for AI in their workplace.

The workshop will also include a case example of how one agency is operationalizing AI implementation using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) continuous improvement model. The focus will mainly be on the “Plan” and “Do” segments of the model, as the agency is still in the early stages of implementation. The session will conclude with a discussion on the importance of AI Informed Consent, HIPAA compliance, and ethical risk mitigation-emphasizing transparency, client protection, bias reduction, and the necessity of clear documentation standards. Attendees will leave with a structured implementation PDCA roadmap, and simple suggested tools for advancing AI responsibly within mission-driven organizations.
