This training will take a practical look at issues of stigma in substance use treatment. The presenters will overview two recent studies about stigma from the Center for Prevention and Research Development (CPRD) at the University of Illinois School of Social Work. The training will also feature a discussion around peer recovery models and how these models are a valuable resource in combating stigma in substance use treatment. The training aims to educate individuals and communities about the negative impact of stigma on individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The training seeks to promote empathy, reduce judgment, and create a more supportive environment for those affected by substance use.
