The diagnosis and treatment of traumatic maxillofacial injuries in dogs and cats can be challenging. This course will introduce learners to traumatic injuries involving the mandible, maxilla, temporomandibular joints, palate, soft tissues and the dentition.

This course is 100% online. All the lectures and assessments are on-demand to meet your busy schedule.

This is a self-paced course. You may start and finish the course at any time. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be granted three hours of continuing education (CE). College of Veterinary Medicine is an authorized CE provider, and our courses are equivalent to RACE approved. This course is expected to take three hours to complete.

What You'll Learn

  • Diagnose canine and feline jaw fractures and maxillofacial injuries
  • Select appropriate treatment plans including patient stabilization, selection of proper techniques, and management of postoperative complications
  • Recognize and identify clinical presentations of dental trauma in dogs and cats and interpret results of the oral examination and dental radiographs to select appropriate treatment options
