Child Outcome Summary (COS) Collecting & Using Data to Improve Programs provides key information about the COS process, and the practices that contribute to consistent and meaningful COS decision-making.

This course was developed through a partnership of the ECTA Center and DaSy Center.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training, learners will be able to:

Describe why child outcomes data are collected.
Recall key features of the COS process.
Recognize how three child's outcomes are measured through the COS process.
Recognize how to identify accurate COS ratings using a team-based process.
Understand importance of comparing children’s current functional performance to age-expected functioning.
Describe when and how to measure progress in the three child outcome areas.
Identify how to document ratings and evidence to support those ratings in COS documentation.

Credit Hours

This event is approved for Illinois (IL) Early Intervention Credentialing Hours and IL Department of Financial & Professional Regulations (IDFPR) Licensure hours for Dietitian/Nutritionist (D/N), Counselor (LCPC), Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Social Work (SW), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).

The DaSy Center

The DaSy Center is a national technical assistance center that works with states to support IDEA early intervention and early childhood special education state programs in building high quality data systems and using data to improve results for young children with disabilities and their families.
